St Jean de Losne to Besançon

Parting view as we headed out of  St Jean de Losne to Besançon this morning

We stopped in the town of Dole for a look at the Cathedral, done in the flamboyant gothic style, consecrated in 1574.

We got a bit of a history lesson from a local gentleman who was very proud to speak about his town and share his knowledge.

The organ, completed in 1754, was being played as we toured the Cathedral.

Among the fun facts about Dole was that Louis Pasteur was born here.  Here is a French model (that looks a lot like my lovely wife Julie) in front of his birthplace.

Lori's goal of seeing goats was achieved on the trail, where we were greeted by a couple of escapes from a local home.

The rest of our day was interesting.  We traveled from Dole to Besançon the last hour in a very heavy rainstorm.  We hit several "deviations" (detours) that we ignored because of ignorance of French and desire not to transfer in a thunderstorm, but fortunately, everything worked out just fine.

Gallipoli

Today was a bonus day.  We decided to do a day trip to the Gallipoli Peninsula.  That is where an important WWI battle was fought in 1915.  ...
