Montbéliard to Basel, SWITZERLAND

Well, we made it across France.  We had a very pleasant 47 mile ride into Switzerland this morning.  It was accompanied by some beautiful views and a little climbing.  So far, we have covered 742 miles.  We were fortunate to have a little push today from a nice tailwind.  The rain last night made the air very clear and it was very low humidity.

It was a beautiful ride again today.  Lots of great views along the trail.

I finally got a photo of a very common bird along the riverways we have traveled.  My guess is a great blue heron.

The picture does not do it justice, but this is Julie getting to the top of a hill

Second breakfast along the trail.  My nose is buried in the phone, probably trying to figure out where to go next.

Along the canal between the Rhine and the Rhone, two of the great rivers of Europe

One of many, many war memorials along the way

For my son Andy, not a bad view from the tee with the Rhine Valley in the background

The route today.

Tomorrow is a rest day, from cycling and blogging.  Enjoy your day off, we certainly will.

Gallipoli

Today was a bonus day.  We decided to do a day trip to the Gallipoli Peninsula.  That is where an important WWI battle was fought in 1915.  ...
