Heiligkreuztal to Ulm

We woke up to the sound of a heavy rain this morning.  Our prayers were answered (remember, we were staying in a former convent) when it stopped raining and the sun came out before we started our ride 2 hours later.

We had a pleasant ride across the farmland.  We visited pretty little cities and enjoyed wonderful roads.  We did get our exercise on a few very steep, relatively short hills.  How does a 21% grade sound to the cyclists out there.  Sounds like walking up the hill to me.

Look at how that trail drops off into the woods.  None of us made it in the saddle (including Beth on the e-bike)

Typical view from the road.  The concrete trails are primarily used by farmers to move equipment.   They make wonderful bike trails.

Village along the way.  That is the Danube in the foreground.  Let see if it gets more mighty as we roll eastward.

Beth captured a few interesting shots of the countryside

Here are the numbers for the day.  I was not kidding about the steep uphills.

We finished the day in the rain.  We ducked into a tunnel during the deluge and finished the day (and I'm talking the last 2 miles) on wet roads.  We had really nice trailwinds for most of the day.

Gallipoli

Today was a bonus day.  We decided to do a day trip to the Gallipoli Peninsula.  That is where an important WWI battle was fought in 1915.  ...
